Cookie policy
A plain-language explanation of the cookies on this website, what you can choose, and how to withdraw your consent at any time.
This page explains how the GeekMidst website uses cookies and similar technologies, and what choices you have. It is written in plain language and is not legal advice. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our privacy policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work. Others help the site owner understand how pages are used. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, work in much the same way, and this policy covers them too. If the cookie banner is hard to use with your assistive technology, our accessibility statement explains how to tell us.
The short version
- Essential cookies are used so the website and its content management system work properly and securely. They do not track you for advertising.
- Optional analytics through Google Analytics runs only if you agree through the cookie banner.
- We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- You can change your mind at any time.

Analytics and consent
When you first visit, the cookie banner asks whether you accept optional analytics. Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded and its cookies are not set. If you decline, the site works exactly the same.
If you accept, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use and your approximate location. We use this in aggregate to understand which guides are useful and where the site needs work. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. Google processes this data under its own terms; information on how Google uses data is available on Google's own policy pages.
How long analytics cookies last depends on our analytics configuration and Google's defaults, which can change. You can see the cookies currently stored, and their expiry dates, in your browser's settings.
How to change or withdraw consent
- 01
Use the cookie settings link
Open the cookie settings link in the website footer to reopen the banner and change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops analytics from loading on future page views.
- 02
Clear existing cookies
Withdrawing consent does not always remove cookies already stored. Delete them through your browser's privacy or site data settings.
- 03
Control cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies for all sites or for specific ones. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
- 04
Use a browser opt-out
Google offers a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data across sites, if you prefer a broader opt-out.
