Salesforce solutions for ecommerce
Lifecycle journeys, cart recovery, unified customer profiles and post-purchase service for online retailers.

Ecommerce teams live on timing and relevance. Product, order and behaviour data change by the minute, and customers expect messages that reflect it.

Where Salesforce helps
- Lifecycle journeys — welcome, browse, cart, post-purchase and win-back.
- Unified profiles — joining web, commerce and service data with Data Cloud.
- Consent and preferences — one source of truth for channel permissions.
- Service — order status and returns handled with full customer context.
Typical data sources
Most ecommerce Salesforce projects join a handful of feeds: customer accounts from the storefront, orders and order lines, a product catalogue, web or app behaviour, and service cases. The useful questions are how often each one updates, which identifier links it to a person, and who owns its quality.
Practical considerations
- Freshness matters more than volume. A cart or browse message built on yesterday's data can recommend items the customer has already bought. Agree refresh frequencies per feed before designing journeys.
- Keep transactional and marketing messages apart. Order confirmations and dispatch notices are service messages; promotions need marketing consent. Treat them separately in both sending setup and consent logic.
- Product data drives content. Images, prices and stock status in emails are only as good as the catalogue feed behind them. Decide what happens when an item goes out of stock or changes price between send and open.
- Measure with holdouts. For lifecycle journeys, a small randomised control group is the most reliable way to see what a programme actually adds.
A sensible first project
Rather than building everything at once, pick one lifecycle moment with clear data — often post-purchase or cart recovery — get the data feed, consent check and measurement right, then reuse that pattern for the next journey. If you are not sure where to start, our assessment is a structured way to review your current setup.
