Account Engagement (Pardot) Consulting

Practical help for B2B teams running Account Engagement (formerly Pardot): a clean setup, reliable Salesforce sync, nurture programmes sales trusts and reporting you can explain.

Marketing and sales colleagues discussing a lead funnel chart in a meeting

Account Engagement (formerly Pardot) is often bought to give sales better leads, then left to grow without a plan. Later there are automation rules nobody owns, forms that create duplicate prospects, a scoring model sales ignores and campaign reports that do not match Salesforce. If you are looking for a Pardot consultant, the problem is rarely the tool. It is usually the design decisions around it.

Who this service is for

  • B2B marketing teams launching Account Engagement for the first time, or re-implementing after a messy first attempt.
  • Salesforce admins and platform owners who inherited an Account Engagement account and need to understand what it is doing before they change it.
  • Marketing operations leads who need nurture, scoring and handoff to work the same way for every region or product line.
  • Revenue leaders who want campaign influence reporting that marketing and sales both accept.

We work on the configuration, the data and the process, and explain each decision so your team can run the platform without us.

What we work on

Problems we are usually asked to fix

Most Account Engagement work starts with symptoms rather than requirements. These are the common ones.

Prospects that will not sync

Sync errors usually come from validation rules, required fields or record ownership in Salesforce, or from field sync settings that let one system overwrite the other. We trace each error type to its cause and agree which system owns each field.

Automation nobody can explain

Automation rules, completion actions, dynamic lists and Engagement Studio programmes can all change the same field or list. When three of them do, results become unpredictable. We inventory the automation, map what each item touches, retire what is redundant and document the rest.

Scores that sales ignore

If the score rises because someone opened a lot of emails, sales stops trusting it. A score should reflect intent, a grade should reflect fit, and the handoff should combine the two.

Reporting that does not add up

Campaign influence relies on connected campaigns, consistent campaign member statuses and contact roles on opportunities. We fix those foundations before anyone debates attribution models.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01

    Discovery

We review the account, the Salesforce connector settings and your sales process, and interview marketing, sales and the admin team about what is and is not working.

  2. 02

    Audit and findings

You receive a written list of issues ranked by impact and effort, with a recommended order of work. Nothing is changed in this stage.

  3. 03

    Design

We agree the target design for fields, sync behaviour, scoring, lifecycle stages, nurture structure and naming conventions, written down so it can be reviewed.

  4. 04

    Build in stages

Changes are made in small, reversible steps, tested with sample prospects, and switched on one area at a time so problems are easy to isolate.

  5. 05

    Handover

Your team gets documentation, a walkthrough of each change and guidance on maintaining it, so the account does not drift back.

What you receive

DeliverableWhat it contains
Audit reportFindings across setup, sync, automation, content, scoring and reporting, each with a recommendation
Design documentField ownership, sync rules, lifecycle stages, scoring and grading logic and naming conventions
Automation inventoryEvery rule, completion action, dynamic list and programme, with purpose and owner
Configured accountThe agreed changes built and tested, with a change log
RunbookHow to add a programme, a form or a campaign without breaking the design

What we need from you

  • A named owner on the marketing side who can make decisions on design questions.
  • Admin access, or a working session with your admin, for both Account Engagement and Salesforce.
  • Your current lead lifecycle and routing rules, even if informal.
  • A couple of hours with sales stakeholders during design, because scoring and handoff fail without their input.

Questions we hear

Is Pardot still a product?
Pardot was renamed Marketing Cloud Account Engagement. The core features remain, and the product is managed from inside Salesforce through the Lightning app. Most people still use both names.
Can you clean up an existing account without starting again?
Usually yes. Most accounts are recoverable with an audit, a clear design and staged changes. A rebuild is only worth it when the structure is too inconsistent to fix in place.
Do you work with business units?
Yes. We help decide whether business units are needed at all, and if they are, how to structure them so reporting and governance stay manageable.
Will changes disrupt live programmes?
We test with sample prospects first and switch areas on one at a time. Some changes, such as sync rule updates, need a short agreed window.
Do you write the emails and content too?
Our focus is configuration, data, automation and templates. We can build and test email templates, but copywriting usually stays with your team or agency.
