Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud explained
What Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud covers, how it links to Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud, and what to ask if you run NPSP today.

Nonprofit Cloud is Salesforce's industry product for charities and nonprofit organisations. Salesforce documents four main areas: Fundraising, Program & Outcome Management, Grantmaking and Volunteer Management.
Many nonprofits already run Salesforce through the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), an older managed package. Salesforce's Nonprofit Cloud page does not state NPSP's status, so if you use NPSP, ask Salesforce directly about your options rather than relying on second-hand advice.
What Nonprofit Cloud adds on top of the core clouds
Sales Cloud and Service Cloud are built around commercial selling and service. Nonprofit Cloud adds nonprofit processes:
- Fundraising: managing donors and gifts.
- Program & Outcome Management: tracking programmes, participants and the outcomes you report on.
- Grantmaking: for organisations that award grants.
- Volunteer Management: recruiting, scheduling and tracking volunteers.
- Winter '27 additions: Salesforce's release highlights list a Donor Engagement Agent, Household Automation and a Participant Portal. No status was stated in the material we reviewed, so confirm availability before planning around them.
Who it suits
It suits charities, foundations and other nonprofits that want fundraising, programme delivery and volunteer work in one system. Grantmaking is relevant to funders. Smaller organisations should weigh the effort of setup against a simpler configuration.
How it connects with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud
- Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) can unify supporter data from fundraising platforms, event tools and websites into profiles for segmentation.
- Agentforce agents can be grounded in CRM and Data 360 data. The Donor Engagement Agent is Salesforce's nonprofit-specific example.
- Marketing Cloud runs supporter journeys such as welcome, appeal and stewardship communications. Marketing Cloud Next runs on the core platform with Data 360.
Planning considerations
- Data model fit: map households, donors, gifts, programmes and participants carefully. Household handling is often where projects slip.
- NPSP: if you run NPSP, decide with Salesforce whether to stay, move to Nonprofit Cloud, or plan a later move. A move is a data migration project, not an upgrade button.
- Consent: supporter consent and Gift Aid or tax-related data need clear ownership.
- Licensing questions to ask Salesforce: which modules are included; how Grantmaking and Volunteer Management are licensed; whether nonprofit discounts apply; and how Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud are licensed alongside.
Common mistakes
- Assuming NPSP configuration transfers directly to Nonprofit Cloud.
- Importing donor data before agreeing household and duplicate rules.
- Buying every module before the core fundraising process works.
