Salesforce Public Sector Solutions
What Salesforce Public Sector Solutions offers government organisations, how it relates to Government Cloud and Missionforce, and what to plan for.

Public Sector Solutions is Salesforce's industry product for government and public sector organisations. It is presented on Salesforce's government page, and Salesforce documents case management and prebuilt agents and apps among its capabilities. Trailhead also uses the name "Agentforce Public Sector".
Two related names cause confusion. Government Cloud is Salesforce's FedRAMP environment, which is about where and how Salesforce is hosted, not a set of features. Missionforce is Salesforce's government and defence business unit. This guide keeps to what Salesforce documents and points you to the official page for detail.
What Public Sector Solutions adds on top of the core clouds
Service Cloud provides general case handling. Public Sector Solutions adds a public sector focus:
- Case management shaped for government services.
- Prebuilt agents and apps for public sector use cases, so you start from a template rather than a blank org.
- Missionforce Operations, which Salesforce says is "generally available now in U.S. regions".
Ask Salesforce for the current list of included apps and agents for your region, as availability can differ.
Who it suits
It suits government departments, agencies, local authorities and other public bodies that run case-based services for citizens, businesses or staff. US federal organisations with FedRAMP requirements should look at Government Cloud as well. Outside the US, ask Salesforce which hosting and compliance options apply to your country.
How it connects with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud
- Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) can unify records from many departmental systems into a single view, subject to your data-sharing rules.
- Agentforce agents can be grounded in CRM and Data 360 data, and the Einstein Trust Layer provides controls such as data masking and audit trail. The prebuilt public sector agents start here.
- Marketing Cloud can handle citizen communications, such as reminders and service updates. Consent and preference management needs careful design.
Planning considerations
- Hosting and compliance first: confirm which environment you need (for example, Government Cloud for FedRAMP) before designing anything else.
- Data model fit: map your case types, applicants and services to the standard model and the prebuilt apps.
- Legacy systems: most public bodies have long-lived systems. Plan integration and data migration early.
- Licensing questions to ask Salesforce: which apps and agents are included; whether Government Cloud changes what is available; how Data 360 and Agentforce usage is licensed; and how citizen or external users are licensed.
Common mistakes
- Treating Government Cloud as a product with its own features rather than a hosting environment.
- Assuming every announced feature is available in every region.
- Deploying agents on citizen-facing channels before testing and governance are in place.
