Salesforce B2C Commerce guide
What Salesforce B2C Commerce covers, from storefronts and Business Manager to Shopper Agent and agentic search, and what to plan first.

B2C Commerce is the consumer ecommerce part of Salesforce Commerce Cloud. It runs branded online stores: catalogue, pricing, promotions, search, basket and checkout. The platform was originally Demandware, which Salesforce acquired in 2016. After October 2025 the wider family was marketed as "Agentforce Commerce", and that name still appears in some newsroom copy, but the products grid uses Commerce Cloud.
What it is for
B2C Commerce is for brands and retailers selling directly to consumers online, often across several countries, brands or sites. Merchandisers manage the store in Business Manager, while developers build the storefront experience on top.

How it connects with other Salesforce products
- Order Management takes over after checkout: routing, fulfilment, returns and service.
- Service Cloud gives agents order context when customers get in touch.
- Marketing Cloud uses browse and purchase data for journeys such as abandoned cart recovery.
- Data 360 unifies commerce, marketing and service data into one profile; see our unified customer profile blueprint.
- Loyalty Management adds points, tiers and offers.
Who it suits
Mid-size and large consumer brands, retailers and direct-to-consumer manufacturers, especially those running multiple sites or regions. See our retail and ecommerce industry pages.
Planning an implementation
- Storefront approach. Choose between Storefront Next, Composable Storefront or another headless front end, based on your team's skills and design needs.
- Catalogue and pricing. Agree the master catalogue, site catalogues, price books and promotion rules.
- Payments, tax and fraud. Decide providers early, as they shape checkout.
- Order flow. Decide whether Order Management or an existing system handles orders after checkout.
- Search and AI. Check what Shopper Agent and Agentic Commerce Search need before planning around them.
Common mistakes
- Replatforming the old site's quirks instead of revisiting the customer journey.
- Leaving SEO redirects and URL structure until the last week.
- Treating inventory and order integration as a later phase.
- Underestimating content migration and translation for multiple regions.
