Energy & Utilities Cloud explained
A plain guide to Energy & Utilities Cloud: what it adds, who it suits, how it links to Data 360 and Agentforce, and the questions to ask before buying.

Energy & Utilities Cloud is Salesforce's industry product for utilities and energy providers. Salesforce's page describes it as "Energy & Utilities Cloud on the Agentforce 360 Platform", and highlights field service for utilities and clean energy programmes among its documented capabilities.
This guide sticks to what Salesforce documents. It explains what the product adds, who it suits, how it connects with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud, and what to plan before you sign. For edition details, use Salesforce's official page and Help.
What Energy & Utilities Cloud adds on top of the core clouds
Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Field Service and Operations are general products. Energy & Utilities Cloud adds utility-specific processes on top of them:
- Field service for utilities: work in the field built around utility operations.
- Clean energy programmes: support for running customer energy programmes.
- Winter '27 additions: Salesforce's Winter '27 release highlights list New Connection Management, Emergency Compliance Management and Tariff Comparison. No release status was stated in the material we reviewed, so confirm availability before you plan around them.
Who it suits
It suits electricity, gas and water utilities, energy retailers and organisations running energy efficiency or clean energy schemes. It is most useful where customer service, new connections and field work need to share one view of the customer and the premises. Organisations with simple service needs may find a core cloud enough.
How it connects with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud
- Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) can unify customer, account and usage-related data from operational systems, including through Zero Copy access to warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery.
- Agentforce agents can be grounded in CRM and Data 360 data. For utilities, typical ideas include service agents for connection or tariff questions. Field Service and Operations also documents Autonomous Scheduling with Agentforce Voice in Winter '27.
- Marketing Cloud can run programme enrolment, outage or service communications and customer journeys. Check which Energy & Utilities Cloud data is available to it in your edition.
Planning considerations
- Data model fit: utilities have complex relationships between customers, accounts, premises and service points. Map yours to the standard model before adding custom objects.
- System of record: billing, metering and asset systems usually stay outside Salesforce. Decide what is synchronised, what is virtualised and what stays put.
- Compliance: if you plan to use Emergency Compliance Management, involve your regulatory team early.
- Licensing questions to ask Salesforce: which edition includes the utility field service and clean energy capability; whether the Winter '27 features are included; how Field Service, Data 360 and Agentforce are licensed alongside it; and which user types need which licence.
Common mistakes
- Trying to replace the billing system with Salesforce rather than integrating with it.
- Building customer journeys before the premises and account data is reliable.
- Under-estimating integration effort with metering and operational systems.
