Media Cloud is Salesforce's industry product for media organisations. Salesforce's media page describes two main areas: advertising sales and subscriber management. If you sell advertising, run subscriptions, or both, Media Cloud is the Salesforce offering built around those processes rather than a generic sales and service setup that you customise yourself.

This guide covers what Salesforce documents about Media Cloud today, who it suits, how it fits with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud, and what to plan before you buy. Feature detail here is limited to what Salesforce publishes, so check the official page and Salesforce Help for edition specifics.

What Media Cloud adds on top of the core clouds

Sales Cloud and Service Cloud give you general pipeline, account and case management. Media Cloud adds media-specific capability on top of the Salesforce Platform:

  • Ad sales: support for the advertising sales process, from opportunity to order.
  • Subscriber management: tools for managing subscribers and their relationship with your titles or services.
  • Winter '27 additions: Salesforce's Winter '27 release highlights list RFP management and Out-of-Home and In-Store media planning for Media Cloud. Salesforce did not state a release status for these in the material we reviewed, so confirm availability for your org before relying on them.

Who it suits

Media Cloud is most relevant to publishers, broadcasters, streaming services and media owners that run advertising sales teams, subscription businesses, or both. Out-of-Home and In-Store media planning makes it worth a look for owners of physical media inventory too. If you only need basic CRM for a small sales team, standard Sales Cloud may be enough, and an industry cloud may add more data model than you need.

How it connects with Data 360, Agentforce and Marketing Cloud

  • Data 360 (formerly Data Cloud) unifies data from many sources, including Zero Copy access to warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery. For media, that usually means joining subscriber, engagement and advertiser data into unified profiles for segmentation.
  • Agentforce is Salesforce's agent platform. Agents can be grounded in CRM and Data 360 data, so subscriber service or sales support agents can work with Media Cloud records. Agents are now built in the new Agentforce Builder.
  • Marketing Cloud handles subscriber journeys, such as onboarding, renewal and win-back. Marketing Cloud Next runs on the core platform with Data 360; Marketing Cloud Engagement is the established B2C product.

Ask Salesforce which Media Cloud objects are available to each of these products in your edition.

Planning considerations

  • Data model fit: map your ad products, orders, subscribers and accounts to the Media Cloud data model before customising. Gaps found late are expensive.
  • Integration: most media businesses already run ad servers, billing and content systems. Decide which system owns each record.
  • Licensing questions to ask Salesforce: which edition includes ad sales and subscriber management; whether RFP management and media planning are included or separate; how Data 360 and Agentforce usage is licensed alongside Media Cloud; and which user types need which licence.

Common mistakes

  • Rebuilding standard Media Cloud features as custom objects.
  • Treating subscriber data and advertiser data as one problem; they usually have different owners and consent rules.
  • Planning agents before the underlying data is clean and unified.

Questions we hear

Is Media Cloud the same as Sales Cloud?
No. It is an industry product with media-specific ad sales and subscriber management capability on the Salesforce Platform.
Are the Winter '27 media planning features generally available?
Salesforce lists them in the Winter '27 highlights but did not state a status in the material we reviewed. Check Salesforce Help for your org.
Do we need Data 360 to use Media Cloud?
Not necessarily. Data 360 helps when you need unified profiles across many systems. Ask Salesforce how it is licensed alongside Media Cloud.
Can we use Marketing Cloud for subscriber journeys?
Yes, Marketing Cloud is Salesforce's marketing product. Confirm which Media Cloud data is available to it in your setup.
