Salesforce for Medical Technology
How medical technology companies use Salesforce for field teams, complaints intake, device service, HCP engagement and consent.

Medical technology companies sell through field teams, support devices in hospitals and clinics, handle complaints that may have regulatory weight, and engage healthcare professionals under strict rules. Salesforce can connect those teams on one platform, but a medtech implementation has to be designed with your quality and regulatory team from the start.
GeekMidst is an independent Salesforce consultancy based in India that works with clients remotely. This page sets out the use cases we see most often, the relevant Salesforce products, and the regulatory points to plan for.
Use cases
Field sales teams
Sales Cloud gives reps and managers pipeline, forecasting and account plans. Pipeline Forecasting is the current Help name for Salesforce forecasting. For commercial teams in life sciences, Life Sciences Cloud covers clinical, medical, commercial and patient services. Salesforce's Winter '27 material lists Order Management, Voice-Based Visit Logging and event spend caps for Life Sciences Cloud; Salesforce gives no status for these.
Service and complaints intake
Service Cloud handles cases from phone, email, web and portals. For medtech, the important design work is intake: capturing the details a potential complaint needs, flagging cases that may need review, and routing them to the right team. Decisions about what counts as a complaint or a reportable event belong to your quality function, so plan for these rules with your quality and regulatory team and build the case process around them.
Device service via Field Service
Field Service and Operations supports scheduling and optimization, the Scheduling Console, an offline-first mobile app, Asset Service Management and Visual Remote Assistant. For devices installed at customer sites, that means planned maintenance, repair visits and service history tied to each asset. See our field service scheduling blueprint.
HCP engagement
Marketing Cloud and Life Sciences Cloud can support education, events and product communications to healthcare professionals. Content approval, interaction rules and spend tracking vary by country and company policy, so plan for them with your quality and regulatory team and your compliance function.
Consent
Consent needs designing once and enforcing everywhere. In Marketing Cloud Next, consent is stored as Data 360 DMOs and checked at send time. Plan your consent model with your legal adviser, and see our consent requirements worksheet.
Life Sciences Cloud or Health Cloud?
Two industry clouds compared
| Point | Life Sciences Cloud | Health Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Clinical, medical, commercial and patient services | Health use cases; Winter '27 adds referral management, a payer contact center voice agent and a Care Gap Closure dashboard |
| Integration notes | Winter '27 features include Order Management and Voice-Based Visit Logging | FHIR R4 and HL7; bi-directional EHR integration via MuleSoft Direct for Health |
| Likely medtech fit | Commercial and medical teams, HCP engagement | Patient-facing programmes linked to care providers |
Many medtech companies start with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Field Service, and add an industry cloud when a specific need justifies it. Industry clouds are licensed products; we don't quote prices.
Regulatory points to plan for
We make no compliance claims. These are areas to plan for, with your quality and regulatory team:
- Device regulation, for example FDA requirements in the United States and the EU MDR, including complaint handling, vigilance and traceability.
- Validation of the Salesforce processes your quality system relies on.
- Privacy laws in each country where you hold patient or HCP data. Check with your legal adviser.
- Security controls. Shield offers Platform Encryption, Event Monitoring, Field Audit Trail and Data Detect, each worth assessing against your requirements. See our security and governance service.
