MuleSoft Integration Services

We design and build MuleSoft integrations on Anypoint Platform, with reusable APIs, clear error handling and monitoring, connecting Salesforce to ERP and legacy systems.

MuleSoft is Salesforce's integration product. Its own site calls it "MuleSoft with Agent Fabric", while the salesforce.com page says "Agentforce MuleSoft"; we use MuleSoft. GeekMidst designs and builds MuleSoft integrations remotely from India, with a focus on reusable APIs and on what happens when something fails.

Not every project needs middleware. Salesforce integration services covers strategy and native options, and our guide to middleware vs point-to-point APIs helps you decide. This page is for teams that have chosen MuleSoft or are close to it.

API-led design

We organise integrations as layers of reusable APIs: system APIs that wrap each backend, process APIs that combine them into business logic such as order-to-cash, and experience APIs shaped for a consumer such as Salesforce, a portal or an agent. When a backend changes, only its system API changes. We size the layering to your needs rather than building every layer by default.

The MuleSoft products involved

  • Anypoint Platform for designing, building and managing APIs and integrations.
  • MuleSoft Agent Fabric, with an agent registry, AI Gateway, Model Wallet and FinOps dashboard.
  • MuleSoft Omni Gateway and Intelligent Document Processing.
  • MuleSoft RPA (page live, no end-of-sale notice) and MuleSoft Composer (still documented, release notes dated May 2026).
  • Winter '27 adds AI Cost Management, an Agent Kill Switch and MuleSoft Headless (status not stated).

Error handling we build in

  • Retries with back-off for temporary failures, and no blind retries for bad data.
  • Idempotent operations, so a replayed message doesn't create duplicates.
  • Dead-letter queues with a named owner for failed messages.
  • Alerts tied to business impact, not just error counts.
  • Replay planned around Salesforce retention: high-volume platform events and change events are kept for 72 hours.

Our integration error handling checklist goes deeper.

How we work

  1. 01

    Discovery

We map systems, data flows, volumes and who owns each one.

  2. 02

    Design

We design APIs, data contracts, security and error paths before any build.

  3. 03

    Build

We build and unit test Mule applications in non-production environments.

  4. 04

    Test

We test with realistic volumes and deliberate failures such as timeouts and bad records.

  5. 05

    Launch

We deploy with monitoring and alerts switched on from day one.

  6. 06

    Support

We watch the first weeks closely and hand over runbooks.

Prerequisites and licences

MuleSoft is licensed separately from Salesforce clouds, so confirm which Anypoint and Agent Fabric capabilities your contract includes. Salesforce authentication is also changing: connected apps support ends in Summer '27 in favour of External Client Apps, and the OAuth username-password flow retires on 20 February 2027. See connected apps and OAuth changes.

Who it suits

Organisations with several backends to connect, integrations that keep breaking, or plans to expose systems to AI agents.

Common mistakes

  • Building point-to-point flows inside MuleSoft and calling them APIs.
  • No plan for failed messages.
  • Credentials hard-coded in applications.
  • Skipping volume testing.

Questions we hear

Do we need MuleSoft, or will native integration do?
For a few simple connections, native options are often enough. MuleSoft makes more sense with many systems, shared APIs or strict monitoring needs. The integration complexity assessment helps you judge.
Is MuleSoft Composer still available?
It is still documented, with release notes dated May 2026 and no retirement notice found.
How do you handle failed messages?
Each integration gets defined retries, idempotency, a dead-letter queue, alerts and a runbook naming who acts.
Will the Salesforce OAuth changes affect our integrations?
Possibly. Integrations using the username-password flow or connected apps need a plan before the published dates.
