Tableau and CRM Analytics Consulting
We help you choose between Tableau, Tableau Next and CRM Analytics, then build the data models, metrics and dashboards people actually use.

Salesforce now offers several analytics products, and the names keep shifting. GeekMidst helps you pick the right one for each job and build it well, remotely from India. If your question is about campaign and channel performance, see marketing analytics and reporting instead.
The products and their names
- Tableau covers Tableau Cloud, Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop; tableau.com says Desktop "is now free". The salesforce.com Platform page also uses "Agentforce Tableau". See our Tableau overview.
- Tableau Next is API-first, agentic analytics on the Salesforce Platform and Data 360, integrated with Slack. It is sold standalone or in the Tableau+ bundle, and is "included in certain Salesforce Editions (Core, Advanced, Max)".
- Tableau Semantics provides shared metric definitions, and Tableau Agent and Tableau MCP (Summer '26) add AI and agent access. Tableau Knowledge and Tableau Studio arrive in Winter '27, status not stated.
- CRM Analytics, formerly Tableau CRM and Einstein Analytics, is still marketed with a free trial. Salesforce positions it for deep analytics embedded in CRM, while its analytics hub now leads with Tableau Next. Revenue Intelligence is built on CRM Analytics Plus.
Where we usually start
| Need | Often a good fit |
|---|---|
| Analysts exploring many data sources | Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server |
| Agentic analytics on Data 360, used in Slack | Tableau Next |
| Dashboards embedded in Sales Cloud or Service Cloud records | CRM Analytics |
| Pipeline and forecast analytics | Revenue Intelligence on CRM Analytics Plus |
| Simple operational reporting | Standard Salesforce reports and dashboards |
What's included
- A product fit review against your licences, including what Core, Advanced or Max already include.
- Data models and pipelines from Salesforce, Data 360 and other sources.
- Shared metric definitions, so a number means the same everywhere.
- Dashboard design for each audience, with performance testing.
- Row-level security aligned with Salesforce sharing.
- Training and handover for your analysts and admins.
How we work
- 01
Discovery
We list the decisions each audience makes and the data each one needs.
- 02
Design
We choose the product, define metrics and design data models and security.
- 03
Build
We build pipelines, semantic models and dashboards in a non-production environment.
- 04
Test
We reconcile numbers against source systems and test with real users.
- 05
Launch
We publish to each audience with short walkthroughs.
- 06
Support
We review usage, retire unused dashboards and add what is missing.
Prerequisites and licences
Each product is licensed separately, and Tableau Next is included only in certain editions. Tableau Next is built on Data 360, so plan your Data 360 setup alongside it. Agent features need Agentforce enabled. We confirm entitlements before design.
Who it suits
Teams whose Salesforce reports have hit their limits, organisations combining Salesforce data with other sources, and CRM Analytics customers deciding what to do next.
Common mistakes
- Buying a tool before agreeing metric definitions.
- Rebuilding every legacy report in the new tool.
- Analytics security that doesn't match Salesforce sharing.
- Moving off CRM Analytics without a clear reason.
