India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year, with no daylight saving. We share your full working day, and nothing shifts when other countries change their clocks.

Data and privacy rules to plan for
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) was enacted in August 2023, and the government announced the notified DPDP Rules in November 2025. The Rules start in phases over 18 months. Until the main duties begin, the IT Act and the 2011 SPDI Rules still govern most obligations.
DPDP Rules: the phased start

What this means inside a Salesforce org:
- Consent you can trace. Notices must be standalone, clear and purpose-specific, and people can withdraw consent at any time, including for email marketing. Decide where consent and its purpose live, and how a withdrawal reaches Marketing Cloud.
- Children's data needs verifiable parental consent. Tracking children and targeting ads at them is prohibited.
- Breaches must be reported to affected people and the Board without delay, with a detailed report to the Board within 72 hours, from May 2027. CERT-In reporting applies separately.
- Cross-border transfers are allowed unless the government restricts a country by notification; no such list had been notified in the sources we checked. Sector rules, such as RBI rules on payments data, still apply.
- Calls and SMS fall under TRAI's National Do Not Call framework, not the DPDP Act.
The regulator is the Data Protection Board of India, with appeals to TDSAT (PIB backgrounder). Early 2026 reports said MeitY was considering shorter deadlines, but we found no notified amendment, so check dates with your legal adviser. Salesforce data residency: Hyperforce India
India is listed as a Hyperforce hosting location in Salesforce's Infrastructure and Sub-processors document. Not every service on Hyperforce is available in every location, so confirm each product with Salesforce.
